We also used these story sequence cards to go along with Very Hungry Caterpillar.

Keep the Fire Burning

At church a few weeks back they were singing
"I Wish Somebody's Soul Would Catch on Fire".
I got to thinking about the camping trip we took the Friday before. It was the first time for Sarita to go camping. That is if you don't count when I was four months along and Jerry and I went to a church camp meeting and slept in a tent in July.
During that song I just thought to myself that fire is not just going to happen. Just like our camp fire, it didn't just spring up. Jerry had to work to get it going. Which took my mind back to the last revival services we had at church, where the theme seemed to be "stir it up". So I looked it the back of my Bible under stir to study further. In second Timothy 1:6 I found this scripture:
Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God,
which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.
In my Bible under the commentary stir up the gift of God said to
keep in full flame.
I thought again about that night camping.
When the fire would die down Jerry would take the shovel and swing it back
and forth feeding the fire oxygen, stirring it up.

Reading further in the amplified Bible:
In this first chapter Paul is writing to Timothy, remembering his "sincere and unqualified faith (the leaning of your entire personality on God in Christ in absolute trust and confidence in His power, wisdom, and goodness). A faith that was first in his grandmother, Lois, and his mother, Eunice.
A faith that Paul is persuaded is in Timothy.
Now look at verse six: That is why I would remind you to stir up
(rekindle the embers of, fan the flame of, and keep burning
the gift of God (the inner fire) that is in you
by means of the laying on of my hands
(with those of the elders at your ordination).
Drop down to verse 13-14: Hold fast and follow the pattern of wholesome and sound teaching which you have heard from me, in the faith and love which are in Christ Jesus. Guard and keep (with the greatest care) the precious and excellency adapted (Truth) which has been entrusted (to you) by the Holy Spirit Who makes His home in us.

O God, let me take the greatest care with the gift of the
Holy Ghost that you have given to me.

Letter B Work

Here are some highlights from this week and our letter b work.
We had a blast going to yard sales this morning.
We found a Barbie still in the box and a Don't Break the Ice game.

B do-a-dot page; color, cut and paste things that start with b; b tracing page;
b letter hunt; cover b with stickers, peace day collage done at library, and b sorting.

Dry erase alphabet.
I found the tracing pages here.
Just scroll down to the bottom of the page under alphabet letter tracing worksheets.
I put them in Word, printed on card stock paper, and laminated.
The uppercase is one one side and lowercase on the back of the same page.

Sarita found Jerry's packing bubbles and had fun popping them.

                       Counting with clothespins.
I'm loving the cards that came with a $2 book I got from a second-hand store!
They have dots on the back to count, too.

Button counting
(overlook the messy carpet - its right by my
sewing table so it seems to stay messy!)

Life Cycle of a Butterfly Mobile

The butterfly is made from coloring with markers on a coffee filter.
Then you pinch the middle and twist a pipe cleaner around for the body/antenna.
After Sarita colored this page we cut them out, punched a hole, and stapled them
to a paper plate. The idea for the mobile came from here.

Check out this video about the butterfly life cycle.

Hair-bows and Christmas Dress

Hair-bow to go with Christmas Dress
.
Dress is made from Velveteen.

I showed Jerry and said, "Look at the money I saved making these."
To which he replied, "You saved money by spending money?"
: o P
Since the ribbon by the roll was on sale half off it costs me $3.00 for one color.
But one roll will make at least four large hair-bows.
So it cost roughly $1.50 to make one.
Beats paying $5 - $10 for one new at the store!

Letter U Work

Sarita helping with laundry.
She folded all the washcloths from the dryer
and put detergent in for the wash.

Sarita likes to take pictures with my camera.
She goes around the house taking pics of everything (she took one of the toilet!)
Here is one she took of herself.

A drawing she did at the library.
(It's not a goatee it's a chin.)

Cut and paste umbrella work.

My Big Number Box Book
A great find from a consignment store for $2.00.
Sarita would find the correct number for each page.

Green Smoothie

Makes 2 Quarts

2 cups almond milk
2 cups spinach
2 frozen bananas
2 tablespoons honey
2 tablespoons peanut butter
1 large glass of ice
1/8 cup carob chips (optional)

Put first six ingredients in blender in the order given.
Blend together until smooth and you cannot see any spinach leaves
(sometimes I have to work the top part down with a spoon but be careful!).
Pulse in carob chips if desired. Best if you drink when freshly made.

Tastes creamy and smooth
(the spinach has no flavor so all you really taste is the peanut butter and bananas)

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom

We watch this at least once a week. So we created our own coconut tree (made from paper sacks/bags and green construction paper) to put our letters up on.
